The World Future Council brings the interests of future generations to the centre of policy?making. Its 50 eminent members from around the globe have already successfully promoted?change. The Council addresses challenges to our common future and provides decision?makers with effective policy solutions. In-depth research underpins advocacy work for?international agreements, regional policy frameworks and national lawmaking and thus?produces practical and tangible results. The World Future Council Foundation is looking for a full time?
Policy Officer ? Future Finance
to be based at the WFC?s head office in Hamburg, Germany, preferably starting 1 April 2012.
Role:
The Policy Officer - Future Finance facilitates the identification and promotion of best policies for a sustainable financial system in a globalised world.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and implement detailed work plans on the basis of agreed WFC work programme and evaluate progress against agreed outcomes
- Research best policies in the field of sustainable finance and provide expert knowledge on the topic
- Monitor international developments
- Represent the WFC at international and national meetings
- Network with relevant players in the field
- Media outreach in coordination with the media department
- Produce promotional material and maintain the Future Finance blog
- Convene future finance related events with various stakeholder specifically parliamentarians with the support of other staff
- Secure additional funding
- Manage expenditure to agreed budgets and agreed WFC policies on expenditures
- Line manage the researcher and intern Future Finance
- Report to the Chair of the Management Board
Profile:
- Academic degree in a related field (economics, political economy, political science etc)
- 3-5 years experience in a comparable research and advocacy position or in the financial media
- In-depth knowledge of sustainable development, finance, international affairs
- Experience working with international networks, parliamentarians and media
- Excellent English communications skills, additional languages are an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of an international team
- Flexibility to attend occasional evening/weekend meetings and travel
An EU work permit is required.
